Sessions that include a van, forest of pines, and a mountain drive that results in getting a little lost and exploring will always be the best. For Julia and Micah’s adventure engagement session, we started the drive up from downtown Colorado Springs up into the mountains, with the intention of getting to one of my favorite spots in the Springs that has tunnels cut away into the side of the mountain to continue the road.
After a while of driving up the bumpy, dirt road, we realized it had been a much longer drive than anticipated. Checking google maps, we discovered we took the wrong road and had been driving the wrong way the whole time.
We decided to just embrace the misdirection and find our own unique spot. We drove a little further down the road and found all of this goodness. Honestly, we totally lucked out with how beautiful this place was – it ended up even better than my original location suggestion. Not only that, but it was also just the perfect spot for Julia and Micah – they absolutely love these beautiful evergreen lodgepole pines and this is their perfect color palette, too. Plus, then we found the most beautiful overlook on our way back down to the Springs.
Colorado Springs has so many beautiful hidden gems, it’s hard to go wrong when you find a new place to explore. With beautiful pine forests, winding dirt roads, waterfalls, Garden of the Gods, the Paint Mines, and so many other great things, Colorado Springs will probably always be one of my favorite cities in Colorado!
