Maybe you and your partner met at a hiking trail or nature walk? Perhaps you connected over a common love for nature and spending time in the mountains? (I get it, there’s nothing better!). A Sapphire Point Overlook wedding might be perfect for you …
Adventure wedding elopements and micro weddings allow you to have an intimate ceremony in one of the most scenic parts of Colorado like Sapphire Point Overlook — in the heart of the Rocky Mountains.
Located in the White River National Forest and with a view of the Dillon National Reservoir, this gorgeous location is an accessible and stunning way to start one of the most important chapters in your life.
If you’re from outside of Colorado, Boulder and Denver are the easiest ways to fly in. Otherwise you can take a bus into the state and then rent a car to drive into Dillon, CO using Highway 70.
Highway 40 and 70 also have multiple access points from Utah. All you have to do is head east and enjoy the landscapes on the way!
Sapphire Point is the only area in White River National Forest approved for wedding use! You can reserve only a 2-hour block but you’re allowed to pay for up to 4 reservations per transaction which will give you ample time for your nuptials.
Facility rates are $120/day year round (January 1 – 31 December), but it’s always a good idea to look at the official National Park website in case anything changes.
You don’t need a specific Sapphire Point Overlook wedding permit to get married here but any vendors you use that provide wedding services, like delivery of rental furniture or caterers, will need a valid permit from the U.S. Forest Service.
Pro tip: Reservations can be made 6 months before your wedding date, but not further out than that. Also, the parking lot is small (lots of spaces will be taken by hikers) so it’s best to carpool as much as possible or rent a shuttle to make sure there are enough spots for all the guests.
Nature-lovers, this location is calling your name! Not only will you be surrounded by luscious landscapes with stunning views, you’ll capture the most memorable wedding photos at Sapphire Point Overlook that capture the mood and create an unforgettable backdrop.
You can rent multiple campgrounds starting at $22 per night, or stay at a nearby hotel and drive to the multiple trails if you want a honeymoon that fits your budget. You’ll just have to make your reservations as far in advance as possible.
NOTE: Recreation.gov is migrating to a new system. You’ll have to wait until spring 2024 to make reservations for later this year.
Sapphire Point is easy to get to all year long. Thanks to its consistent use, local roads are well-kept and hiking trails are packed down.
I’m partial to spring April weddings or autumn weddings in October or November, but every season is really romantic. No two couples are alike, and no matter which season you choose, you’ll be sure to have an incredible day as unique as your love story.
My passion is helping couples have the most memorable wedding or elopement in stunning locations just like this. I capture photos that tell your unique story so you can create memories you’ll forward to talking about for years to come. No two sessions are alike!
As a Sapphire Point Overlook wedding photographer, Colorado’s nature continues to speak to me and countless couples around the country. The nearby landscapes are diverse, breathtaking, and just challenging enough to satisfy adventure lovers.
