Marissa & Michael’s elopement day was something out of a dream. Their day was filled with intentional moments from getting ready together, to witnessing wildlife, and saying vows while the rain fell around them.
I met up with them at a cabin nestled in the forest in Ouray, and started photographing all their details! They chose to include some really unique things like a tablescape setup and an arch with floral elements. Marissa & Michael helped each other get ready, and then spent time Facetiming their loved ones that weren’t there for the elopement day.
We headed out in the Jeep, the rain falling down around us as we traversed the Jeep roads leading into Yankee Boy Basin. Even though rain wasn’t originally in the plans for the day, Marissa & Michael had the absolute best attitudes and were so ready to just embrace whatever weather came our way. We made it up to one of my favorite alpine lakes in the San Juans, and got out to explore around the icy blue water. This was our original ceremony location, and Marissa & Michael decided to stick with it and promise their vows to each other in the rain. I honestly can’t think of anything more romantic than this, and it was the most beautiful ceremony to witness, including heartfelt tears.
We spent some more time exploring in the mountains, checking out a waterfall, another alpine lake, and meadows with the most beautiful mountain views.
Marissa & Michael’s rainy Yankee Boy Basin Jeep elopement is proof that even when the original plans fall through, Mother Nature’s new plans can turn out to be even better.
And I couldn’t have said it better than Marissa & Michael – read their love letter about working with me!
“I cannot give enough stars or say enough words to accurately reflect my true gratitude towards Meagan for her photography services on our elopement day. Our experience with her was nothing short of incredible and she made sure our wedding day was so special. From her warm & down to earth personality, to her spot-on recommendations, we were obsessed with Meagan from the get-go. She not only helped us plan out our entire vision for our elopement day and made it all come to life ten-fold, but we also had so much fun exploring ALL of the recommendations she gave for activities and things to see in the local area during our stay. The best and most important part to me about Meagan is how beautifully she captured our love and told our story on our special day. I am still in awe over how exceptional each and every one of our photos turned out (She also had the finals for us SO quickly!) and looking at them makes me feel like I’m re-living every part of my favorite day. We are forever grateful for Meagan and highly, highly recommend her for your elopement photographer! She is truly the best of the best!”
