A slow & intentional start to their Iceland elopement
The morning of their first day started slow and intentional—wrapped in blankets, sipping coffee, and soaking in the quiet before the adventure ahead. They took time to read and write their vows together, letting the words settle deeply before the whirlwind of the day began. There was no rush, no expectations—just the two of them, completely present with each other.
I always love when an elopement day starts this way – it really gives you the opportunity to soak in every moment with your love, starting your day in the most intentional way. And this Airbnb in Kirkjubæjarklaustur, Iceland was the perfect setting with its cozy atmosphere & beautiful views through all the windows.
Exploring Diamond Beach & the Glacier Lagoon
Our first stop was the famous Diamond Beach, where icebergs washed up on the black sand shore, sparkling like scattered diamonds. The wind roared, the rain misted around us, but instead of shying away from the elements, Tim & Annica embraced them. They ran along the shoreline, laughing as the wind whipped through their hair, completely lost in the moment. This wasn’t about perfect conditions; it was about feeling alive, together.
From there, we made our way to Jökulsárlón, the glacier lagoon, where the most breathtaking backdrop awaited—crystal-clear blue waters dotted with floating icebergs. When I imagine an Iceland elopement, this really is exactly what comes to mind. Somewhere secluded, with no one else around, surrounded only by the magic of the what the land has to offer. They didn’t need an elaborate setup; the landscape itself provided the most breathtaking altar they could’ve asked for.
This is where they exchanged vows, standing hand-in-hand, surrounded by nature’s raw beauty. It was emotional, intimate, and absolutely surreal. Witnessing moments like this during an Iceland elopement is truly such a privilege – seeing the raw emotion from Tim & Annica just proves what a great match they are for each other, embracing everything that came their way during their Iceland elopement, however unexpected.
Elopement ceremonies will forever remain one of my favorite parts of the day for how truly beautiful they can be. As the day went on, we ventured toward a hidden canyon for a sunset hike. But in true Icelandic fashion, the weather had other plans. As we climbed higher, the wind and pummeling rain became relentless, swirling around us with an energy that only added to the adventure. Some couples might have been discouraged, but Tim & Annica leaned into the experience. They held onto each other, laughing through the wind, soaking in the wildness of it all. These were the kinds of moments they had dreamed of—raw, real, and completely unforgettable.

Day two of their Iceland elopement started at a secluded waterfall, one of my most favorite elopement locations, where the only sound was the rushing water and their footsteps on the damp earth. It was the perfect contrast to the wild energy of the day before—a quiet, peaceful moment that felt like their own secret world. And to top it off, we were blessed with the magic of warm sunshine for part of the day, which can definitely be hard to come by in Iceland.
After exploring the waterfall, we had planned for a hot spring soak, but once again, the Icelandic winds had other ideas. Instead of fighting against nature, we chose to just go with it, pivoting to a simple but beautiful moment—sipping wine on a black sand beach in Vik, watching the waves crash along the shore. It was proof that sometimes, the most unexpected changes lead to the most incredible memories.
