Alex & Kyle 🤝🏼 the San Juan Mountains of Colorado – truly a match made in wildflower-covered heaven for their dreamy Colorado summer elopement among wildflowers in the San Juans.
Their summer elopement felt like stepping into a storybook… the kind where time slows down, the air smells like pine and sunshine, and every direction you look is a sweeping view of mountains layered in watercolor blues.
The day began quietly at The Western Hotel in Ouray – which, in my opinion, is one of the coziest places in the San Juan Mountains. Alex & Kyle spent the morning wrapped up in each other, sipping tea, curled beneath soft blankets, and laughing at their attempts to use the old typewriter in the corner of their room. It set the tone for everything that followed: slow, intentional, and full of heart.

Elopement days almost never go completely according to plan, and Alex & Kyle’s elopement day was no exception. The Jeep driver was actually running pretty behind, so before we headed into the mountains, we wandered down to the bar for a couple of pre-adventure drinks and FaceTimed their family members who couldn’t make it, sharing tiny glimpses of the day as it unfolded. Those little moments of connection added so much warmth – like a gentle reminder that even on an intimate elopement day, love expands beyond just the two of you.

Once the Jeep finally arrived, the real adventure began. We bumped along rugged mountain roads above Ouray, climbing higher until the world felt wide open. Wildflowers lined the trails – bursts of yellow, purple, and soft pink guiding us toward the alpine. Eventually, we reached a hidden, icy-blue lake tucked beneath jagged peaks. This is one of my favorite spots for summer elopements in this area – it’s truly the kind of place that makes you stop and really soak it all in.
That’s exactly where Alex & Kyle decided to share their vows – surrounded by shimmering water, huge skies, and not another soul for miles. The wind moved gently across the lake, the sun lit up the ridgelines, and these two just glowed. They giggled, whispered, cried, and held onto each other in the sweetest, most sincere way.

The rest of the day was spent exploring pockets of wildflowers, wandering through soft meadows, and soaking in every ounce of mountain magic. With the greens and blues of summertime painting the landscape, it felt like Colorado showed off just for them.

It was one of those days that felt both effortless and unforgettable – the perfect blend of adventure, intimacy, and pure joy. And watching Alex & Kyle experience it all together? Truly the dreamiest reminder of why the San Juans are one of the most magical places to elope.
