Romantic Summer Mountaintop Jeep Elopement in Silverton
One of my very favorite places in Colorado for elopements is the San Juan mountains!
It’s filled with rugged peaks paired with turquoise alpine lakes and enchanted forests. There’s the chance for every activity you could possibly imagine, jeeping, canoeing, climbing, hiking and one of my personal favorites – a via ferrata. This area truly is chock full of magic & adventure. Janelle & Gabe’s elopement was no exception to the magic of the San Juans & Silverton, Colorado.
Their day started out at a cabin nestled right in town in Ouray where they got ready and shared the absolute sweetest first look. After that, they had the most beautiful and romantic picnic in the forest right in the backyard of the cabin. It was magical for them to be surrounded by the towering trees while getting to bring a little bit of tradition to their untraditional elopement day with a cake cutting!
Once they were ready to go, we headed out in the Jeep to explore the moutainside. Jeep elopements are one of my favorite types of days because you can see so many incredible spots without having to hike 6+ miles. Not everyone is an avid hiker, so being able to access beautiful locations this way is such a privilege. The road from Ouray to Silverton, Colorado is such a dream, filled with incredible views the whole way. We admired them as we went on our way and started the trek up the 4WD road to their elopement location! Some of my favorite spots in the San Juan Mountains are located outside of Silverton, and we got to explore 2 of them for their elopement day.
Our first stop was an alpine lake with the most massive, towering peaks behind them. We adventured around this area for a while, just enjoying our time exploring and admiring the wildflowers that were still left at the end of summer. We finally headed up to our final stop – the most incredible mountaintop location for an elopement in all of Colorado (in my opinion). Janelle & Gabe shared their vows privately – surrounded by nothing but incredible mountain views and fresh air as they promised forever together.
